The census in the EU states
In the relevant regulation (PDF, 75KB, file not barrier free), the EU provides for censuses to be held by its member states at ten-year intervals. The variables for which the member states have to report data to the EU are laid down in that regulation. This is the only way to obtain comparable 2011 Census results across Europe. All countries are free to choose the method they want to employ.
The following webpages provide information on member states’ methods, dates and results.
