On 31 May 2013, the first census results will be released

The release date for the first results of the 2011 Census has been fixed: on 31 May 2013 at 11 a.m., the statistical offices of the Federation and the Länder will release numbers of inhabitants for the Federation, Länder and municipalities and results of the census of buildings and housing.

Reunited Germany will thus get current numbers of inhabitants, data on the demographic structure of the population and other structural data, for example, on education and employment for the first time after the population censuses of 1987 in the Federal Republic of Germany and of 1981 in the former GDR. The census of buildings and housing will provide information on the stock of buildings and dwellings, on owner-occupier rates and vacancy rates or on the average dwelling size and type of heating.

On the release date of 31 May 2013, access to the census database on the web portal at www.zensus2011.de will be launched. First results from the 2011 Census will be available there for individual evaluations, with data retrieval being free of charge.

More census results will become available in early 2014. Then the results on family and household relationships and other detailed results from the household survey will be released.
